Sadpara....conqueror of the Mount Everest
Age 48 years
Place of Birth Sadpara Village, Skardu, Baltistan
Irrespective of what all is going around in the country, when everyone around the world atleast have a rough idea that things are not really going good for the nation. We, the Pakistanis, keep producing stuff which anyone least expects out of us. Such was the spirit and such was the enthusiam to achieve the extra ordinary, that the resolve of the 48 year old were never dented by the situation in the country or his own financial problems.
The mighty Everest has hardly been friendly to the climbers who attempt to defeat it. But it did respect the untiring commitment of Hassan Sadpara and let him go over — without the Oxygen Kit— a feat first achieved by the Italian climber Rienhold Messner and his Austrian partner Peter Haebler in 1978. Hassan Sadpara hoisted the green flag on the summit of Everest early in the morning around 6:00 A.M on May 11, 2011. He is the 2nd Pakistani after Nazir Sabir to achieve the rare feat of conquering the highest peak of the world. Hassan Sadpara belongs to a low-paid family of Sadpara who could not fulfill his dream earlier in 2007 due to financial constraints but it did not prevent him to take up the task to be on top of the world, literally. Hassan has successfully avoided the dangerous Khambo Galacier which is considered the most dangerous active glacier at the face of Everest to punch back the human creepers on its back. He, before proudly planting the national flag on the peak of Everest in Nepal, had successfully reached the tops of five of the world’s 8000 plus peaks which include K2 ( Godwin Austin - 8611), Nanga Parbat(the Killer Mountain - 8125), Broad Peak (8048), Gasherbrum I (8068) and Gasherbrum II (8035) in Pakistan.
The achievement by the little-known Sadpara villager the extent of the mountaineering talent that lies within Pakistan. With very few international climbers visiting the country, which house some of the world’s highest peaks in the northern areas – is considered the heaven for mountaineers all over the world.
